Metallic Bonding

In metals, the atoms share electrons. Their electrons move freely around the metallic environment.  This is the explanation for the malleability of metal. Metal can be bent, melted, shaped and reshaped. This atomic sharing also explains the electrical conductivity of metals, the free ranging electrons are polarized when a charge is introduced.

 

The blue atoms are negatively charged, while the waves of teal, positively charged electrons spin freely around the entire metal.  This happens because in metals, each individual atom is imbalanced by nature. Every metal atom is missing one electron. The solution for these atoms is to join together with others, and share their electrons. Metals are a co-operative.

Gold, silver, copper, and pyrite, are metals often used by crystal therapists.
